Places are full of stories, real and imagined.
Can you find them?
Inclusive media and storytelling for public spaces.
During the development of STORYBOX, the ABC worked with ESEM to curate a selection of ABC TV Archive recordings capturing life in Parramatta in the 1950s and 1960s.
During this time, Parramatta was a hub for newly-arrived European migrants to Australia, who brought new ways of life to Australia.
One of archive recordings we surfaced was a dance recorded at the now-demolished Cedars of Lebanon Hall in 1963.
During lockdown, the recording was released on the STORYBOX website, and was discovered by the Lebanese Kfarsghab community on Facebook and shared extensively.
When lockdowns were eased, the ABC and ESEM met with members of the Kfarsghab community, one of whom was featured in the 1963 dance.
The release of the recording surfaced on many lost memories and connections.
