As part of a one day workshop, We Care invited a mix of participants to explore the concept of an innovation precinct through the lens of Care and Common Growth. The idea behind this methodology was to start not with data but with shared storytelling as the basis from which to explore what kinds of data and indicators might emerge from this more creative and speculative approach. To create a space for common ground, participants shared a silent 'Body Place' walk together facilitated by artist Gretel Taylor, and then followed a set of 'context windows' led by prompts about the possibilities of a future precinct created with the principles of care and common growth.

The concept of the data imaginary featured prominently here, with workshop facilitators Sarah Barns and Stephen Johnston exploring how a 'co-intelligent' interface with AI in the room might act as a contributor to the program. Stephen spun up some digital infographics revealing the webs of digital connection between the group, and Sarah presented her ideas about ambient commons as a nudge method for digital collaborations. These digital prompts also saw many, including the most technologically-committed, act in ways that resisted the reliance on technology as solution.

Workshop Participants included participants from AECOM, RMIT, Frontiers SI, local artists, RMIT staff and students, and health professionals. Many thanks to everyone who contributed their wisdom and energy to this project. Workshop Co-Facilitation with Stephen Johnston.
